Kampli MLA J N Ganesh has approached the Karnataka High Court, seeking bail in a case registered against him for allegedly assaulting fellow Congress MLA Anand Singh.
He stated in his petition that the alleged brawl was a minor drunken altercation and not a case of an attempt to murder.
Ganesh is facing an attempt to murder charge for assaulting Singh during a drunken brawl at the Eagleton Resort near Bidadi on January 20.
Ganesh added that following the incident, an FIR was lodged based on Singh’s statement, naming the petitioner as the lone accused in the crime following which an investigation was taken up by the police.
The petitioner added that it was actually Singh who had picked up an issue with the petitioner late in the night.
