Bengaluru: Bengaluru police on Friday raided the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison and seized a mobile phone, cash of Rs 16,000, and an induction stove.
A team headed by Sarah Fathiema, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of the southeast, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Electronics City, and five police inspectors raided the prison around 10 am.
Fathiema told DH that they got complaints about assault incidents inside the prison, and the purpose of the visit was to send them a message that the police keep a vigil on any incidents inside the prison. Maintaining law and order was also a reason for the raid, she added.
She further said that routine visits will follow.
