The police said the driver, who has a heart condition and a pacemaker, was in shock following the accident.

The victims have been identified as Nagamma (around 40 years old) and her 16-year-old daughter, Prabhadevi.

The incident occurred at 12.15 pm when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and crashed into the pavement, fatally hitting the two pedestrians.

"We have detained the driver and conducted medical tests. The results are awaited,” said an officer from the Hebbal traffic police station, where a case has been registered.

Nagamma and Prabhadevi were natives of Challakere, Chitradurga, but had been living in Byatarayanapura.
