Bengaluru: A woman in Nelamangala town allegedly killed her newborn by placing it in a vessel of boiling water.
The police have arrested the woman, identified as Radha, aged about 27.
The baby was born prematurely and had not been drinking milk since birth, crying inconsolably. Radha believed that the baby was not normal. She had reportedly slipped into postpartum depression.
Her husband is jobless and an alcoholic, and had stopped visiting her at her parents' home in Vishweshwarapura, according to the police.
On Monday, Radha lit the stove and heated water in a vessel. She then placed the baby in the vessel, leading to its death, the police added.
