The deceased have been identified as Ashwini (41) and her son Abhilash (20), residents of Doodagollarahatti, Kengeri. Abhilash was reportedly dropping his mother to work when the tragedy occurred around 7.45 am.

Byatarayanapura traffic police said the incident took place while the two were riding towards KR Market. Their bike handle is suspected to have brushed against a canter moving alongside, causing Abhilash to lose control. Both fell onto the road and were run over by the heavy vehicle. They sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot.

A crowd gathered at the scene, shocked by the accident. The bodies have been sent to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Traffic police inspected the area and managed the resulting traffic jam. They have registered a case of accident and detained the canter driver, identified as Shiva.

Police said CCTV footage from nearby establishments is being reviewed to determine the sequence of events and the cause of the two-wheeler losing balance.
