The incident occurred around 11.20 am near 26th Main Road, J P Nagar 6th Phase, when the victim, Pratik Tarafdar, was on his way to work. Tarafdar, employed as a coordinator in a game development company, told the police that a scooter rider coming from the opposite direction scraped his motorcycle.

The unidentified man stopped, snatched Tarafdar’s bike keys, and began dangling them. Tarafdar managed to retrieve the keys, following which the assailant attacked him with a sharp weapon, causing injuries to his head.

"Since I did not have a local guardian, I went directly to my office. They helped me go to the hospital and get stitches,” he told reporters.

The Puttenahalli police have registered a case under Section 118 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means). Investigation is underway.
