Samuel, the victim, was out on bail in connection with the case registered in Byappanahalli police station. According to police, the gang armed with deadly weapons barged into Samuel’s house and hacked him to death. He was living with his sister and mother and both had gone to a church when the incident occurred.

Police said the assailants had struck after a keeping a watchful eye on their victim. A senior citizen in the locality told police that she saw two guys in their mid-twenties coming out of Samuel’s house with lethal weapons.

Samuel allegedly had an illicit relationship with a married woman, Shobha. As Gopal, the husband of Shobha came to know of the the affair, Samuel, Shobha Saravana and Rajashekar decided to eliminate him. In 2007, they are said to have stabbed Gopal to death and burnt the body. Shobha lodged a missing complaint at the Byappanahalli police station. After few weeks she approached the cops seeking to close the case as she came to know that Gopal had settled down at Pune. However, cops kept a close watch and Samuel spilled the beans during questioning. All the four were arrested and released on bail except Saravana. The Indiranagar police are not ruling out Samuel's killing to avenge Gopal’s murder.

Two held for selling heroin

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths of the City police arrested Imran (29) of  Doddamavalli and Nissar (38) of R T Nagar and confiscated 115 grams of heroin from them recently.

According to police, the duo were caught while trying to sell the banned substance near Public Library in Lalbagh. Imran would buy heroine from Nissar and sell it to college students and IT and BT workers. Nissar’s father Saleem would purchase heroine from Chennai.
