Three driverless trains will run every 25 minutes on the 19.15-km metro corridor that will connect RV Road to Bommasandra via Electronics City in southern Bengaluru. All 16 stations will be operational, a senior BMRCL official familiar with the matter told DH.

The inaugural ceremony is expected to be held at Shalini Ground in Jayanagar 5th Block.

Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar announced the launch date of this long-delayed metro line on X.

The decision followed a meeting between Modi and LS Tejasvi Surya, whose parliamentary constituency of Bangalore South will be the main beneficiary of this metro line.

Sources in the know said that the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) decided the launch date without consulting the government of Karnataka.

Namma Metro is a joint venture between Karnataka and the Centre.

Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the 44.65-km Phase 3, according to Khattar's X post.

Phase 3 of Namma Metro will span 44.65 km, featuring two corridors.

Corridor 1 will be 32.5 km long and link JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura via the western stretch of the Outer Ring Road.

Corridor 2 will span 12.15 km, connecting Hosahalli to Kadabagere along Magadi Road in southwestern Bengaluru.
