The Central Crime Branch sleuths have arrested two persons and seized narcotic substance valued at Rs 30 lakh on Friday.
Based on the information gathered from sources, Vasan, 34, a native of Rayapete in Chennai and Raju Gandhi, a native of Malur and a resident of Guttahalli in Vyalikaval, were arrested and one kg of Amphetamine valued at Rs 30 lakh, was seized from them.
During interrogation, the duo revealed that they received narcotics from Venugopal in Chennai. They were planning to distribute the same here among a group of people, to be further sold to customers.
They approached those belonging to weaker sections and instructed them to sell the drugs for a certain price.
Ramesh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime, said: “We have collected information on the people involved in the racket and a team will be formed to nab them. They often targeted youths and sold the drugs at a higher price.”
A case has been registered at the Vyalikaval police station and investigations are on.
