The arrest is part of an ongoing probe into LSD being smuggled from foreign countries by concealing it in books and magazines.

In a press release, the NCB said it had intercepted a parcel from Mexico in 2023, seizing 6.624 grams of LSD (400 blots). A controlled delivery operation led to the arrest of two recipients, while one associate managed to abscond.

The deported accused is the absconding associate. Further investigation revealed he was also wanted in an NDPS case registered at the Madukkarai police station in Coimbatore. A Red Corner Notice (RCN) was issued against him in January 2025.

“Following close coordination with Indian and international agencies, the accused was located and detained by law enforcement authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the RCN. After completing legal formalities, he was deported to India and is currently in NCB custody,” the release stated.
