Nine nabbed for cheating doctor of Rs 10 lakh

The accused, including two women, were arrested here yesterday, police said, adding an amount of Rs 10 lakh in cash, some lethal weapons and fake gold coins were seized from them.

When questioned, they told police that they had met the doctor in J P Nagar under fictitious names to get treatment and medicines. They requested her to lend them Rs 10 lakh which they said they needed urgently in lieu of gold coins which they claimed belonged to the British era and were found during excavations near Golconda fort in Hyderabad.

The gang was allegedly involved four cases in the city, police said.
