The government will take up a project to provide round-the-clock water supply in nine towns at an estimated cost of Rs 205.87 crore.

Urban Development Minister Roshan Baig told reporters that the towns are: Mudgil, Teredal, Mulki, Mundargi, Shiralkoppa, Kottur, Kampli, Tekkalakote and Mahalingapura. “These are among the 27 towns identified for 24X7 water supply. Already, we have made round-the-clock water supply possible in Ilkal,” said Baig.

He added that the Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation are taking up the projects.

The target is to provide 24X7 water to 55 towns in the next three years, of which 15 towns will be taken up in one year.

He said the government has taken up the Karnataka Municipal Reforms Project at a cost of Rs 1,364 crore with funding from World Bank for urban local bodies other than Bengaluru. Computerisation of basic municipal functions, streamlining finances and scientific base maps using satellite images will be covered.
