Bengaluru: The Urban Development Department (UDD) has decided to exempt three-storey buildings constructed on 1,200-square foot plots across Karnataka from obtaining occupancy certificates (OCs).

A meeting led by Tushar Girinath, Additional Chief Secretary of the Urban Development Department, resolved to propose amendments to the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act, 2024, the Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976, and the model building by-laws of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department. 

Buildings with a ground floor plus two upper floors, or a stilt plus three floors, built on plots measuring up to 1,200 sqft will be exempted from obtaining OCs.
