Friday evening saw a trail of nostalgia among Josephites as the Old Boys’ Association of St Joseph’s Boys’ High School got together to celebrate its 100 years.

The three-day centenary celebration was inaugurated with a prayer by Fr Stanley, followed by a welcome speech by George Ollapally.

The hall was packed with the alumni of the school from across the globe and notable personalities from different walks of life, including Lt Col Aiyappa and Major General (retd) Anil Dere, carrying with them unforgettable memories from their school days.

To make the event memorable, the school has planned a host of activities over the three days. Giving more insight, Ollapally explained: “We have a coffee table book release for the members of the OBA and the release of a special postal cover. Since it’s a centenary celebration, we have multiple activities lined up. There is an old boys’ sports day followed by lunch. And in the evening, there is a blue and white evening at the Catholic Club. On Sunday, we have our AGM followed by a grand finale dinner where we honour all the award recipients.”

Rahul Dravid, the chief guest for the evening and an alumnus, released the coffee table book entitled ‘A Hundred Years, A Million Memories’, which is a walk down memory lane. From the historic picture of the old school building to the picture of the first OBA meet in 1919, this book will surely give a taste of the old charm and the culturally rich institution over the years. Chief Postmaster General, Charles Lobo, released the special postal cover.
