Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is yet to take up construction of feeder canals in places where encroachments were cleared during the ongoing drive across the city.

Instead, the rajakaluves which were cleared, have been blocked by a huge amount of debris. BBMP is yet to clear them. Lack of progress on the work of constructing walls on both sides of the drain is evident despite Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordering it while reviewing the progress.

Although officials claimed that the debris is being removed, a visit to the spot showed a different picture. From Kodichikkanahalli to Yelahanka, work on constructing the drains is yet to be taken up. On Tuesday, a few property owners had engaged private people to demolish their own buildings in places such as Dasarahalli and Rajarajeshwarinagar.

The family of Nagamma Raju in Panchasheela block, BEML Layout is the most affected. They have no clue on where to spend their night after their houses were razed. “All the belongings, including household items, are in the passage while the entire house has turned into rubble. The only place left for us to sleep is the road,” Nagamma, a mother of five children said.

Meanwhile, BBMP marked nine properties for demolition between Abbigere and Jarakabande Kaval. Six factories were also found sitting on the raja kaluve right behind Gangammanagudi in Jalahalli East.

While BBMP officials were marking the places of encroachments in Bagalagunte, a few residents brandished court stay orders. On the other side, BBMP officials did not produce the survey report on the encroachment of SS Hospital, and the house of cine star Darshan and a few malls.

The palike had promised to produce the survey report to prove its claims. However, it did not do so on Tuesday. BBMP officials said they would keep it ready on Wednesday.
