The Deputy Chief Minister and Bangalore Development Minister G Parameshwara plans to appoint separate nodal officers to ensure the removal of the unauthorised flexes, banners and optical fibre cables (OFC) in the city.

Appointing nodal officers for the eight zones is seen as a welcome move as a designated officer can be held responsible for the removal of the unauthorised menace thriving in the city.

"It can be difficult for the BBMP Commissioner himself to look into every single matter pertaining to the city. It might get easier to get the work done if we appoint the zonal officials," said an official.

Parameshwara has also requested for help from the Bangalore City Police officers to the BBMP officers to remove the unauthorised flexes and cables.

Parameshwara was convening a meeting with the BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad and other officials on Thursday.

He has also ordered to speed up the TenderSURE work that has hit a roadblock since the elections.
