Good food and fun-filled activities underlined the ‘Christmas Bazaar’ organised by the Anglo-Indian Association at the Frank Anthony Public School recently. The day was made for the many visitors who came with their friends and family.
The bazaar had everything one could think of — right from delicious Anglo-Indian food and creamy cupcakes to various Christmas decorations and homemade decorative items.Annabelle, who had put up a stall at the bazaar, said that this is an annual event organised by the Anglo-Indian community in Bangalore.
“We make sure that the entire community comes together and participates in this event. Most of the items sold here are homemade. For instance, I have displayed many products like bags, crochet shoes and other items made out of recycled paper and wood. We have this event right before Christmas every year and it is a lot of fun,” she informed.
The highlight of the day was when Santa arrived at the bazaar, shaking hands with the children and distributing goodies to them.
Different events like pony rides and carnival games were simultaneously held at the venue.
Apart from various handmade products, many also sold homemade wines, plum cakes, cookies and other goodies.
Michelle D’Rozario, who had a food stall, was sold out.
“We were selling authentic Anglo-Indian food from Kolkata. People loved our food and we were sold out in the first half of the event itself. We had sandwiches, cutlets, noodles etc and got a great response from the visitors,” she said.
Homemade fruit cakes were also a favourite. Rhea, who was present at the bazaar with family and friends, enjoyed the day.
“The weather is lovely and there is so much to choose from. We also get to meet our family and friends here. It is a lot of fun. I took part in some of the games and managed to win prizes. We make sure that we attend the bazaar every year and this year, I decided to bring some of my friends along. This is yet another way to celebrate the festive season,” she noted.
