Bengaluru: Top government officials met on Tuesday to finalise the finer details of restructuring the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) into smaller corporations.
The meeting, held ahead of an all-party interaction, involved simulating and iterating new corporation boundaries to balance multiple factors.
IAS officers Tushar Girinath, Additional Chief Secretary of the Urban Development Department; M Maheshwar Rao, BBMP Chief Commissioner; and Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner of Revenue, BBMP, attended the meeting along with members of the Brand Bengaluru committee, it is learnt.
With the government planning to issue a draft notification on the new boundaries by July 15, officials worked on fine-tuning geographical limits to balance property tax, size and population density, and minimise fragmentation of assembly constituencies, unless unavoidable.
Once the boundaries are firmed up, the government will hold a meeting with all Bengaluru-based legislators before placing it before the state cabinet for approval. Bengaluru is likely to get new corporations by August 25.
