Bengaluru: Bengaluru Metro reported a whopping 9.66 lakh ridership count on Wednesday, June 4.
Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) registered its highest-ever, record-breaking boarding --- 9,66,732 commuters -- across two metro lines.
According to the BMRCL, ridership across the lines saw an almost three-fold increase, with 4,78,334 passengers on Line 1 (Purple Line) and 2,84,674 passengers on Line 2 (Green Line).
Until 9 pm, metro authorities recorded a total boarding count of 8.7 lakh. This means, nearly one lakh passengers travelled between 9 pm and until the trains terminated for the night.
"The interchange at Kempegowda (KGWA) recorded a substantial footfall of 2,03,724 commuters. A major driver of this surge was the passenger movement at Central Business District (CBD) stations, including Cubbon Park, Vidhana Soudha, MG Road, and Sir M. Visvesvaraya," said the Public Relations Officer, BMRCL.
