A 25-year-old youth who had recently come out of jail on bail was hacked to death in broad daylight near HAL market on Vibhutipura main road on Sunday morning.

Abdullah, a resident of Hosur and a plumber by profession, was arrested by the HAL police in a sexual assault case in 2013.

On Sunday, around 8.15 am, Abdullah had come to his brother's house in Islampura. He went near HAL market to board a bus to Hosur. It was then that he was hacked to death by someone apparently known to him, police said.

He was drinking tea near the market when unidentified miscreants pounced on him with weapons and stabbed him repeatedly, leaving him bleeding. As it was a marketplace and several people were around, the attackers fled. Abdullah collapsed on the ground and breathed his last. The public informed the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that around four persons stabbed Abdullah repeatedly and fled. We questioned the shopkeepers, but none knows who the attackers are. After Abdullah was sent to jail, his parents shifted to Hosur fearing that the rape victim’s family members would attack them,” said a senior police officer.

“On Friday, he had come to the City to attend a court hearing. After attending the court, he went to his brother’s house in Islampura and stayed there for a couple of days,” the offiAcer said.

A case has been registered at the HAL police station and investigation is on.
