Bengaluru: A two-day 'Festival of Humanity: Shantinagar Udyoga' mela (job fair) is set to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday at Nandan Football Ground, Austin Town.
The event is organised by Shantinagar MLA and Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) Chairman NA Haris in collaboration with the Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood Department.
The mela will feature over 26,624 job openings from 116 companies. For the first time, the event has been fully digitised through a dedicated portal developed by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) at udyogamela.skillconnect. kaushalkar.com, allowing seamless registration for candidates and employers.
Special provisions have been made to facilitate job opportunities for differently abled candidates, and no participation fees are being charged for either employers or job seekers.
Addressing the media, Haris and KSDC Chairperson Kantha Naik said that as of January 5, 1,672 candidates have registered online.
A breakdown of the data shows that most applicants possess higher education qualifications, with 555 holding undergraduate degrees, 442 BTech/BE degrees, and 451 postgraduate degrees. This underscores a trend of higher unemployment rates among highly educated youth.
Of the 26,579 jobs available, 3,995 are white-collar positions, while 22,584 are blue-collar roles.
