Aditya Mehta, silver medalist at Asian Para-Cycling Championship, claimed on Friday that he was forced to take off his prosthetic limb during security checks at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) here.

Airport officials, however, dismissed his charge, explaining that the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel were only doing their duty as per the standard security procedure.

A KIA spokesperson clarified that every passenger is searched without exceptions at the KIA. “We have to do whatever has to be done to ensure that passengers feel safe and secure,” she said.

Mehta, who narrated the episode in a Facebook post, said he had checked in his baggage and was to board an Indigo flight to Chandigarh on Friday morning when the problem arose.
