A move, though was partly appreciated, created large-scale resentment among the public in the City. Defending his move, however, Saleem said: “Creation of one-ways are need-based. They help road-users.” On his new posting, he said he would require at least a few weeks to get adjusted to the new role.
“Only after a detailed study can I begin to tackle the prevalent situation in a better way,” he added.
“In an effort to make pedestrians feel safe and secure, greater efforts will be directed towards evolving a pedestrian-friendly traffic system,” he added. Illegal humps will be converted into high rise pedestrian crossings after holding due consultations with the BBMP, said Saleem.
