Penalty of over Rs 8.70 lakh imposed for power theft

A vigilance team of Hubli Electric Supply Company (HESCOM) caught a poultry farm at Mudikoppa village in Khanapur taluk in Belgaum for committing power theft and a penalty of Rs 3.42 lakh imposed on it and a criminal case booked, a Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) release said today.

Four flour mills were caught for tampering the seals of the meters and adjusting recording of consumption and a penalty of Rs over Rs 5.28 lakh imposed and criminal cases booked against them.
