The Sanjaynagar residents' welfare association has lodged a complaint against the Reliance Company for digging up a newly laid road in the locality.

The private company is accused of digging up the road to lay optical fibre cables at Sanjaynagar main road, Venkatachari Nagar and Lottagollahalli. A complaint was registered at the Sanjaynagar police station in this regard on Thursday.

"The road was laid about eight months ago, and one of the residents witnessed some people digging it on Wednesday. When he questioned them, it was found that they had not even obtained permission from the BBMP officials to dig the road," said Vignan Gowda, a resident of Sanjaynagar.

"We have well maintained roads in our ward and our BBMP officials and the MLA have been responsible for it. As citizens, if we find something inappropriate (like this situation), our residents' welfare association will join hands with the officials to ensure it is set right," he further added.

However, the BBMP assistant executive engineer denied having noticed any such digging activity in his limits.
