Basappa, the uncle of the victim, had alleged in his petition that the police failed to take any action despite lodging a complaint against Ashok Kheny, the Managing Director of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE).
According to the petitioner, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda had failed to deliver on his promise of swift action and hence he was seeking a CBI probe. He had urged the Court to take Kheny and others into judicial custody. The petition names IGP Malini Krishnamurthy and City Commissioner of Police as respondents.
The body of Prabhu was found in a ditch near the Green Valley School on Kanakapura Main Road on the outskirts of the City on October 17.
Students allowed for exam
The High Court has directed the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) to allow the students of the BMS College of Architecture to appear for the examinations. The college had started a new course on architecture with the approval of the All India Council of Architecture (AICA). However, the VTU and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) objected to the course and withdrew the time-table issued by the college citing a Government circular dated September 19, 2011 which makes prior permission from VTU and AICTE mandatory for launching any engineering course.
The students moved the Court stating that the High Courts of Andhra Pradesh, Madras, Bombay and Delhi had ruled that AICTE approval was not mandatory for starting the course as the AICA was established much before the AICTE came into existence. Justice Abdul Nazeer directed the VTU to allow students to appear for the examination.
