Bengaluru: The Health and Family Welfare Department has rejected a plea by 28 food safety officers seeking regularisation of their posts and revision of their pay scale.

In the order, Principal Secretary Harsh Gupta stated that the officers were neither regularly recruited nor absorbed as per the Cadre and Recruitment Rules, 2015, or any valid process. They also lacked the required qualifications at the time of their functional appointment or deputation.

"They had approached the courts requesting regularisation, citing nearly 18 years of service. The court directed the department to examine the facts and issue an appropriate order,” Gupta said.

The order further noted that their appointments were purely functional and temporary.
