Bengaluru: Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh convened a meeting with Social Media Monitoring Cell (SMMC) teams of all police stations in the city.
Singh directed the teams to coordinate with the crime branch and the intelligence department to collect information and flag it to senior officers.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Singh said that they are holding sensitisation programmes for all city police staff.
The police said that, henceforth, they will take appropriate action against those involved in spreading fake news, hate speech, misinformation and content leading to communal disharmony.
