Bengaluru: A police head constable was killed in a collision with an SUV in northern Bengaluru on Sunday morning.

According to the Chikkajala traffic police, 59-year-old Prakash MV was riding his two-wheeler to work at the Channarayapatna police station near Devanahalli on the outskirts of the city.

The incident occurred just after the Sadahalli toll gate around 9 am, when the SUV (KA50Z9917) collided with his scooter.

"He was thrown several feet into the air and landed on the bonnet of the car. He sustained severe head and chest injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital in a toll ambulance, where he was declared dead on arrival," a police officer said. The officer also mentioned that Prakash was wearing a half helmet at the time of the incident.

Prakash, from Nelamangala, lived with his family in Vijayanagar.

Following a complaint from Prakash's wife, the police filed an FIR against the driver of the car. The driver was traced and detained on Monday.
