The election to the Jayanagar Assembly constituency, which was countermanded due to the death of BJP candidate B N Vijayakumar, will be held on June 11 from 7 am to 6 pm. The counting of votes will be held on June 13. The Election Commission has issued a notification regarding the dates.
The nomination papers of the candidates will be accepted from May 18 till 25. The scrutiny of the papers will be held the following day. Withdrawal of the nomination is allowed till May 28.
Vijayakumar (60) had suffered a heart attack and collapsed while campaigning in his constituency. He was shifted to a private hospital, but efforts to resuscitate him failed.
