Around 40 pourakarmikas from Hoysala Nagar staged a protest outside the BBMP head office during the council meeting on Saturday. They also requested Mayor R Sampath Raj to pay their salaries, which is pending for the past seven months.
"We are suffering financially for the past seven months as we haven't been paid. We have come here to ask the authorities directly about it, and about the biometric system that does not work properly," said Raghu, a pourakarmika.
After meeting the sanitary workers, Raj said: "I have directed the officials to take action on the issue. We have paid almost all the pourakarmikas in the city."
