Pourakarmikas from across the city will stage a protest today in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) head office at NR Square.
The protest is called by the BBMP Guttige Pourakarmikara Sangha demanding the payment of their full salaries since the month of January 2018. Their other demands are to include the names of workers in the biometric system and also to review the ratio of pourakarmikas to the number of households they cater to.
"The names of the total number of working pourakarmikas are not included in the biometric system that was introduced in the month of February," said Maithri Krishnan of BBMP Guttige Pourakarmikara Sangha.
As of now, one pourakarmika is supposed to cater to 700 households in the city.
The pourakarmikas will be demanding to reduce this to 500 households.
The workers are holding the protest after their working hours so that it does not disrupt their services.
