The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) received as many as 3,014 complaints on Saturday as heavy rain lashed the city.

In all, 43 electricity poles fell and 39 trees were uprooted, leaving most parts of the city in the dark. Bescom personnel have been working round the clock to restore power supply, officials said.

According to Bescom officials, most of the complaints were reported from eastern,  southern and southeastern parts of the city such as Jayanagar, Indiranagar, Koramangala, Shivajinagar, Hebbal, HSR Layout and Malleswaram.

Although power was restored in eastern, southern and western Bengaluru by Sunday afternoon, residents in most parts of northern and northeastern Bengaluru had to wait till Sunday evening for power to be restored.
