Bengaluru: A 22-year-old private firm employee was killed in a car crash on Lower Agaram Road in the early hours of Wednesday.
The Ashok Nagar traffic police said that Sara Catherine, who was travelling as a co-passenger in a car (KA 01 MW 7815), died after the driver, Pritam Christin, 24, allegedly drove rashly and lost control of the vehicle before crashing into a light pole near the ASC Centre South Gate.
The vehicle went over the median and reportedly hit another pole, completely crushing the front portion of the car. The incident took place around 1.45 am on Wednesday.
Sara sustained severe head and facial injuries and fell unconscious. Passersby rushed her to a nearby hospital in an autorickshaw, where she was declared dead on arrival. Christin, meanwhile, sustained minor injuries.
The police said that Sara was a resident of Vivek Nagar and worked for a private company.
Her younger brother, Allen Benjamin, filed a complaint at the Ashok Nagar traffic police station, seeking action against Christin.
A case has been registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 281 (rash and negligent driving on a public way) and 106 (1) (causing death by negligence), and an investigation is underway.
