Bengaluru: The Outer Ring Road Companies' Association (ORRCA) has initiated a clean-up drive along the ORR stretch between KR Puram and Silk Board.

Over the past two days, ORRCA has collaborated with the BBMP, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), Bengaluru Traffic Police, BWSSB and Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) to remove construction debris, solid waste and any green waste from the main carriageway, medians and the space under the flyovers.

ORRCA noted that these piles of waste dumped along the ORR had "not only rendered sections of the road unusable, but also posed serious safety hazards for commuters and pedestrians".

The association is taking this up to make the ORR a "cleaner, safer, and more efficient corridor" for IT hub commuters. It has also encouraged users of the social media platform to share pictures of debris along the corridor.

"ORRCA, in collaboration with civic bodies, is working towards enhancing Outer Ring Road with sustainable infrastructure, improved safety measures and a better commuting experience. This is just the beginning of a long-term vision for a cleaner, more efficient Bangalore!”, the association wrote on X.
