Bengaluru: Nearly 200 people, under the banner of the All-India Students' Association (AISA), protested against the alleged violation of ceasefire by Israel in Gaza.
The protest followed the recent killing of civilians in the Gaza Strip, including women, children, emergency unit volunteers, and journalists.
The demonstration took place at Freedom Park on Friday evening.
Despite police intervention at the beginning over the display of Palestinian flags, the protest continued with songs, poetry readings, and speeches by activists and student leaders.
Aratrika Dey, a member of AISA, said that the protest was aimed at highlighting the “unabated violation of ceasefire in the Gaza Strip after Donald Trump became the US President”.
She said that over 50,000 civilians in Gaza have been killed, including more than 17,000 children. “As of now, 90% of the Gaza population has been displaced. In the recent escalation, more than 500 children have died,” she said.
Aratrika added that Gaza was also subject to scholasticide, as no educational institution in Gaza is functional at the moment.
