Bengaluru: A sub-inspector was arrested by the Karnataka Lokayukta police for accepting a bribe to close a case in Bengaluru, officials said on Monday.

The arrested suspect is Savithri Bai, woman police sub-inspector, Govindapura station, Bengaluru. 

According to the Lokayukta police, Savithri had sought a bribe of Rs 1.25 lakh to file a closure report in a case where the complainant, Mohammed Younus, was accused of assaulting a woman. 

The Lokayukta police set a trap and caught Savithri as she accepted the bribe. She has been booked under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further probe is underway.
