According to the police, Asish Kotharia, the owner of the pub, had kept his joint open till 1.30 am. He, along with his manager Bunty and driver Raju, also allegedly hurled abuses at the police on night rounds. This apart, it is alleged that Raju damaged a two-wheeler belonging to a sub-inspector attached to Koramangala police station.

“Our ASI Jalakraj was on night round and noticed the crowd in the pub around 1.30 am. When questioned, Kotharia started using abusive languages under the influence of alcohol. Soon, he summoned Raju and Bunty and tried to chase our officer,” said Nagaraj, Inspector of Koramangala police station.

Kotharia said the people in the pub were his guests and not customers and no one could ask him to close the pub. Jalakraj immediately alerted sub-inspector Mallesh Bolletin and he reached the spot soon, Nagaraj said.

Meanwhile, Raju, who was trying to flee in a car hit Mallesh’s bike damaging it badly. “However, our officers managed to arrest the three of them. Even in the police station Kotharia threatened us of dire consequences,” Nagaraj added.
