The suspect, Sharath Uttangi, a private firm employee and a resident of Malleswaram, was taken into custody after medical findings contradicted his claims.

According to the police, on Monday, Uttangi, in his late 40s, rushed his wife, Chethana, to the hospital, claiming she had attempted suicide. However, doctors found injury marks around her neck, indicating strangulation, and alerted the police.

During interrogation, Uttangi confessed to strangling Chethana, a 43-year-old lecturer at a private college. An autopsy later confirmed that she had died due to strangulation.

Police investigations revealed that the couple frequently argued over financial issues, which escalated into the fatal attack. Uttangi and Chethana were married for 15 years and have a 13-year-old daughter. Further investigation is underway.
