The 12-day show, which started on January 16, grossed Rs 2,26,52,630 in gate entry, stall rent, and exhibition entry fees.

The 217th show was themed around Maharshi Valmiki and attracted 37,890 visitors on the last day, including 14,830 adults and 23,060 children.

While the Department of Horticulture had earlier indicated that over 10 lakh visitors are likely to attend the show, its Joint Director M Jagadeesh said winter shows usually receive lower footfall compared to Independence Day shows.

He attributed the lower footfall to the examination season for school and college students, adding that the past week also had bouts of rainfall, which might have affected visitor motivation to attend the show.

He said flower pots would remain on the Lalbagh premises while cut flowers would be used for composting. However, if interested parties request the department, flowers will be given for colour extraction and agarbatti making, he added.

The total cost of the show was Rs 2.5 crore.
