Torrential rainfall continued to lash Bengaluru for the second consecutive day on Thursday.

Heavy rains towards late evening in several parts of the city and outskirts uprooted as many as six trees and brought down close to 10 electric poles. Several low lying areas witnessed flooding due to clogged drains.

According to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Control room report, six trees were uprooted in Peenya, Rajajinagar, Sampige Road, Parapana Agrahara, Bomanahalli and Raja Rajeshwari Nagar.

No casualties or major damage to the properties were reported.

Traffic snarls

The late evening showers and uprooting of trees affected the traffic movement in various parts. Sampige Road, Malleswaram and Hosur Road witnessed bumper to bumper traffic.

The city centre areas received 20mm rainfall. Compared to the city, the rural areas and city outskirts like Anekal, Peenya, Yelahanka, Doddaballapura and Devanahalli received more than 40mm rainfall.

Anekal received the highest amount (74mm) rainfall compared to other areas.
