City residents may have to keep their raincoats and umbrellas ready, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Bangalore, predicting light rainfall for the week ahead.

While for many, the sudden rain on Saturday was a welcome surprise, people seemed well prepared for the showers on Sunday, which saw moderate rainfall in many parts of the City.

Officials in the Meteorological department said that the City recorded 29 mm rain late on Sunday evening. HAL airport recorded 13 mm rainfall. The official said that rainfall would continue for at least two days.

Waterlogged roads led to traffic jams across the City on Sunday. There was slow-moving traffic on MG Road, Brigade Road, Shivananda Circle, Old Madras Road, Lalbagh Road, Bannerghatta Road, JC Road and other places.

The downpour left three trees uprooted at Rajajinagar 2nd Block, 13th Cross at Chandra Layout and at LH Compound near Race Course Road.

A tree branch crashed at 18th Cross, Malleswaram. Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike officials, however, maintained that they had quickly cleared the fallen trees.
