Bengaluru: An unusual concert is slated for Saturday (December 14), with two vocalists accompanying a percussion stalwart.

Vidwan AV Anand, 92, began his mridangam career young, and has accompanied several greats on the stage. Among the instrumentalists he played with was the legendary T Chowdaiah, with whom he shared the stage as a nine-year-old.

Pandit Nagarajarao Havaldar, Hindustani vocalist, and Vidwan Thirumale Srinivas, Karnatik vocalist, are flanking Anand and singing to his intricate rhythms at a concert organised by Samanvaya Kala Kendra at 6 pm, at Sree Jayarama Seva Mandali, Jayanagar 8th Block.
