The students of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management recently hosted an iftar feast, an event that the entire college population greeted with a lot of enthusiasm. The campus was done up for the occasion, with lights and all manner of decorations.
Predominantly organised by the student welfare and disciplinary committee of the college, around 500 MBA students took part in the feast, which is an important part of the Ramadan celebrations.
Maniratna Deori, one of the students who helped organise the programme, explains that a lot of hard work went into putting together the event. “It was a great experience to host such a unique event. The students had a great time participating in the feast and as an organiser, it was an honour to be appreciated for the work. Students have already been asking for the next event, which is a great motivator for my team,” she says.
The committee organised a series of food stalls on campus, from different well-known sweet and juice centres, to ensure that the students had plenty of choice. Colourful posters and twinkling lights were also put up as the students sat down for a meal of kabab, biryani, desserts and Arabian grape juice.
Not surprisingly, the students had a great time. Kritika Ramraj, from the junior batch, says, “It was an unforgettable experience with a feast for the senses, delicious smells wafting in the air and a colourful setting. All of us got a chance to simply sit back,
relax and enjoy the evening after a stressful day.”
The evening ended on a fun note with the screening of a comedy at the open-air amphitheatre, which had the students in splits.
Zoeb Eisa, a senior student, says, “Celebrating Ramadan on campus was an experience worth remembering.
Juggling assignments and exams, along with fasting, can be both stressful and frustrating at times. However, the ambience created by the presence of fellow students was heartening.”
