A 22-year-old man was arrested by the Soladevanahalli police for allegedly stabbing his family members, the police said on Wednesday. The arrested is Harsha K, a diploma holder and a resident of Chikkabanavara in north Bengaluru, the police said.
According to the police, the attack occurred on the intervening nights of April 14 and 15 at Harsha’s house, where he stayed with his security supervisor father Krishnamurthy YV (51), homemaker mother Parvathamma (45) and elder sister Nayana (24).
On the night of the attack, Krishnamurthy YV was sleeping in the hall after dinner while Parvathamma was watching TV. Nayana was in her room sleeping.
Krishnamurthy told the police that suddenly Harsha entered the hall at around 11 pm, screaming and shouting that the two were not his parents and Nayana was not his sibling.
Krishnamurthy told Parvathamma that Harsha needed to be taken to the hospital. As per the FIR, as soon as Harsha heard this, it triggered him, and he began shouting that they were planning to kill him by taking him to the hospital.
After quarrelling till 2 am, Harsha called the police but locked the house and kept the key with him. When Krishnamurthy told him to open the door, in a fit of rage, Harsha grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the three.
The three injured were rescued by the police and taken to the hospital, and their condition was stable. Harsha was arrested and is currently in judicial remand.
“The motive was a quarrel over the suspect’s mobile addiction,” a senior police officer told DH. “He also appeared mentally disturbed.”
