An insurance agent’s recruitment drive at Hotel Samrat in Chalukya Circle has come under the police scanner following circulation of pamphlets containing name and pictures of a senior bureaucrat.
Interviewees circulated the pamphlets with the name and photographs of senior IAS official Anil Mukim, secretary with the Ministry of Mines, Government of India.
Dr Rajneesh Goyal, additional chief secretary in the state home department, has lodged a complaint, based on which the High Grounds police registered a case of cheating. According to the police, a private banking firm organised a recruitment drive for insurance agents who would sell their policies. The jobs were mainly for retired personnel and homemakers who can do this part-time.
A good number of retired men and women from the government and private sectors had turned up for the drive in which Mukim’s pamphlets were circulated to add weightage, the police said.
When Mukim was apprised of this, he contacted Goyal, who in turn petitioned city police commissioner T Suneel Kumar regarding the incident. Kumar instructed the High Grounds police to register an FIR. Further investigations are under way.
