Jackfruit 2025, the annual music festival curated by singer-composer Shubha Mudgal and presented by Bhoomija with the Indian Music Experience (IME), has opened registrations for a series of immersive workshops from September 19 to 21. These will be held at IME, J P Nagar.
Five celebrated musicians will lead the sessions. Hindustani classical singer Begum Parween Sultana will conduct ‘Rooted in Riyaaz’, which will focus on daily practice, voice culture and global singing traditions.
Drummer-composer Ranjit Barot will conduct ‘Thinking in Rhythm’, which will cover Indian percussion, improvisation and rhythmic layering. B Jayashree, a Kannada theatre music stalwart, will teach a variety of Kannada theatre songs. Harmonium artiste Sudhir Nayak will present ‘Raag Sangeet’, highlighting the potential of the instrument in solo and ensemble performances. Karnatik vocalist Sriranjani Santhanagopalan will guide participants through ‘Unlocking Carnatic Creativity through Varnams’.
The workshops are open to ages 12 and above, with limited seats to ensure close interaction.
