Bengaluru: Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya has urged the BMRCL for an "immediate release" of its fare fixation committee (FFC) report.
In a post on X on Monday, Surya said that he raised this issue during a consultation meeting with Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Managing Director M Maheshwar Rao regarding the Phase 3 metro alignment, noting that the metro corporations of other cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Delhi have made their FFC reports public.
The fare fixation committee was constituted under the chairmanship of former Madras High Court Judge R Tharani.
The committee submitted its report with recommendations for a fare hike on December 16, 2024. However, the report has not been made publicly available since then. "Despite a steep fare hike of up to 71%, making Namma Metro the most expensive in the country, the BMRCL has not made the FFC report public even months after its submission," Surya wrote.
"Cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad have released their FFC reports to ensure transparency. Withholding the report only undermines public trust," the MP added.
He urged the BMRCL to release the report in the public domain to build public trust and ensure accountability in the fare revision process.
