Speaking at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) convocation on Monday, which was also Teachers’ Day, he said even when he was a vice-chancellor in Kerala, he would make sure that he would teach as often as possible. “Thankfully, being a vice-chancellor did not destroy me,” he added.
On Monday, 2,535 students received their certificates from the Bangalore Regional Centre of IGNOU.
Aanubbhaa Jhhaa received a gold medal for Diploma in early childhood care and
education programme, and Parul Chauhan received a gold medal for postgraduate
diploma in legal process outsourcing.

Bangalore University felicitated all its Deans and the President of the University Teachers’ Association at the World of Books fair at Palace Grounds. Speaking on the occasion, former vice-chancellor K Siddappa said India was a knowledge power in the ancient times because teachers were highly revered.
Vice-Chancellor N Prabhu Dev said that Bangalore University has reached the ninth rank in the list of top ten universities in the country. “The credit goes to the teachers,” he said.

Mission10X, a not-for-profit trust run by Wipro, organised an online event: “Together in change” to mark the day.
The programme works with 16,000 faculty members from more than 1,000 engineering colleges covering 24 states and union territories.
Thousands of participants across 300 towns in India went live and together took the Teachers’ Day pledge to help transform engineering education in India, making it a unique mega virtual event.
