Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) on Wednesday repaired a water supply line in Pulakeshinagar after residents and commercial establishments on Promenade Road reported sewage contamination in the Cauvery water.
Independent tests conducted by residents also detected the presence of E. coli bacteria.
Following complaints, BWSSB engineers inspected the site and discovered that the Cauvery water pipeline was running through a stormwater drain before connecting to houses. Corrosion in certain sections of the pipeline was suspected to have caused the contamination.
To resolve the issue, the BWSSB halted supply through the defective pipeline and provided an alternate connection. Engineers confirmed that residents have since started receiving fresh Cauvery water.
